Happy Belated Birthday!

Welcome back HH and OCS fans;

We have all done it, forget or be late with someone’s birthday.  So to add to my birthday stash, I have a Happy Belated Birthday card for today’s post.

Today’s card is 5 1/4′ x 4 1/2′, a size that I haven’t used for a really long time and I’m happy with how it turned out.

To obtain the decoupage effect, I stamped the Pansy Arrangement from High Hopes Stamps twice on XPress It Blending Cardstock, and coloured them both with copic markers.  I cut one using the Scalloped Die and the other one only the main flower arrangement was cut out and mounted with glue dots.

Supplies used:

  • Stamps:  Pansy Arrangement (R014), Happy Belated Birthday! (High Hopes Stamps)
  • Ink:  Tsukineko Memento Tuxedo BLack
  • Paper:  XPress It Blending Cardstock; DP – Really Rainbow (Lawn Fawn)

The Best Things, Old Friend and Alcohol Pearls

Welcome HH and OCS fans;

Time has a way of sneaking up on us and before you know it another week,  month, or even years have gone or flown by.  The sentiments on both of today’s cards sums up rather nicely our life’s journey.

For today’s cards, I used the stamps called The Best Things and Old Friend, both from High Hopes Rubber Stamps. Both images were stamped onto XPress It Blending Cardstock and coloured with Copic Markers.  The backgrounds for both cards were created using Alcohol Pearls, which is a new product for me.

The Best Things

Old Friend

Inside of Old Friend

While at Scrapfest last month, I picked up a new product for me called Alcohol Pearls.  Alcohol Pearls work in the same way as the regular alcohol inks, but with a difference.  The finish has a pearlescent sheen to it.

While pursuing the Internet for information on Alcohol Pearls, I came across a youtube video by Jennifer McGuire showing how to create a smooth background using a ruler, a strip of white felt and some alcohol pearls.

After adding a few drops of three different Alcohol Pearls to the felt strip edge and then adding some blending solution, Jennifer just moved the ruler along the Yupo paper.   The link to the video can be found here Alcohol Pearls.

For the background below, I used the Envy, Villainous, and Enchanted Alcohol Pearls.

Background for The Best Things

Background for Old Friend

An Alcohol Ink applicator tool with felt was used to create the backgrounds below. Again, the Envy, Villainous, Enchanted Alcohol Pearls were used. The background on the left was used for the Old Friend card.

Supplies used:

  • Stamps: The Best Things (S231), Old Friend (R155), Thank You For Being A Friend (HH039)
  • Ink:  Tsukineko Memento Tuxedo Black
  • Alcohol Pearls:  Villainous, Envy, Enchanted
  • Paper:  XPress It Blending Cardstock, Yupo Paper
  • Copic MarkersThe Best Things
    • YG17 – Grass Green, YG13 – Chartreuse, YG11 – Mignonette
